A varietal that needs no introduction. Originating in France but planted widely all over the world, it typically requires a fair bit of heat to properly ripen but in the climates where it thrives it is alchemized into big, bold, red wines.
A very old wine grape originating in the Jura region of Eastern France, Trousseau has long been used to make reds, rosés and sparkling wines. It is now being more widely planted in the US with some very exciting wines coming out of Northern California and the Willamette Valley being made from it.
