A graceful and very attractive deciduous shrub, Red Huckleberry bears abundant crops of small and sweet-tart berries. Very popular with the Native Americans of the Northwest coast, they are eaten fresh and dried.
Latin Name:Â Vaccinium parvifolium
Site and Soil: Huckleberry likes 1/2 day to full sun (partial shade in warmer regions) and well-drained soil.
Pollination Requirements:Â Self-fertile
Hardiness: Hardy to minus 10° F.
Bearing Age:Â 2-3 years after planting.
Size at Maturity:Â 6-8 ft. in height.
Taste: Sweet-tart
