Prolific Female Hardy Kiwi is valued for it’s self fertility. Prolific’s fruit is dark green all the way through. Even though it is self-fertile, when you pair Prolific with a male it can double the yield.
Prolific female Hardy Kiwi is a self-fertile, female Kiwi crop plant previously known as the 119-40B Kiwi. It is best to have a pollinating male for a larger crop.
Hardy Kiwi likes half day to full sun and well-drained soil. A male plant is required for pollination and one male plant can pollinate up to 8 female plants. The plants need a strong trellis and can spread 10-12 ft when mature. Hardy Kiwi fruit ripens in mid to late September and start bearing 2-4 years after planting.
