Picholine Olive Tree
For all you martini lovers out there the Picholine olive produces the famed cocktail olive and is also used to make a delicious olive oil. Originating in southern France, Picholine has now spread all over the world and is valued as a table olive, a cocktail olive and for its delicate oil.
Latin Name: Olea europaea
Site and Soil: Olives like a warm, protected location with 1/2 day to full sun and well drained soil.
Pollination Requirements: We recommend planting Picholine with another variety like Frantoio. Olives are wind pollinated and should be planted no more than 20 ft. apart. You can assist pollination by moving pollen from flower to flower with a small brush.
Hardiness: Picholine should be hardy to 10F. or below.
