Not a true Vaccinium but actually a hardy Fuchsia that produces an abundance of small edible fruits that are somewhat similar to blueberries. Huge displays of soft pink flowers precede the berries and make this plant an outstanding ornamental edible. Native to the mountain cloud forests of Central America, the Mexican Blueberry Fuchsia prefers mild conditions so site in part shade in hot inland climates. Somewhat tender but should recover from the roots if frosted back in USDA Zone 8b.
