Kobai is one of the most stunning of the Japanese Flowering Plums with its deep pink to nearly red double blossoms. Flowers open from late December to early March. Fruits are also great for making delicious plum wine but it’s all about the flowers with this one.
Latin Name: Prunus mume
Site and Soil: Japanese Flowering Plum likes 1/2 day to full sun and well-drained soil.
Pollination Requirements: Kobai Japanese Flowering Plum Tree is partially self-fertile. Plant with Kanko Bai for best crops.
Hardiness: Japanese Flowering Plum is hardy to minus 10°F. or below.
Bearing Age: 3-5 years after planting
