Gala Apple Tree
Gala produces large, golden-skinned fruit with heavy red striping with crisp, dense, aromatic, mildly acidic-mildly sweet flesh. The fruit quality is excellent and stores very well. The tree itself is is very vigorous and somewhat self-fertile, although it does benefit from cross-pollination by Red or Golden Delicious.

Rootstock Description:
M-106 is considered a semi-dwarf rootstock, producing a tree about 60% the size of seedling. It is quite precocious and productive and usually does not need tree support.
M-26 is considered a dwarf rootstock, growing 8-12 ft. in height. M-26 induces early bearing, usually in 2-3 years after planting, and grows well in most soils, except very wet and poorly drained ones. On windy sites, trees grafted on M-26 may need staking.
Pollination Requirements: Apples need another variety nearby for pollination. Neighboring trees often offer sufficient pollen for good fruit set. Red and Golden Delicious cultivars are particularly effective pollinizers of Gala. Consider Mason Bees to help pollinate and increase fruit production.
