Vassilika Olive Tree

A relatively unknown variety that was originally imported to California from Greece where it was showing promise as a table olive in its green or black stage of ripening. Fruits are quite large with a small pit and great flavor. We are still trialing this variety for cold hardiness and productivity here in the Pacific Northwest.

Growing Info:

Latin Name: Olea europaea
Site and Soil: Olives like a warm, protected location with 1/2 day to full sun and well drained soil.
Pollination Requirements: Self-fertile, but will produce more with another olive nearby for cross-pollination. Olives are wind pollinated and should be planted no more than 20 ft. apart.
Hardiness: Hardy to at least 10° F.
Bearing Age: 1-2 years after planting
Size at Maturity: 10-20 ft. in height but smaller with pruning
