Funberry Raspberry
An interesting little Rubus species from Japan that is so charismatic it has earned the name “Funberry”. Other names for it include the balloon berry for its resemblance to a balloon and strawberry-raspberry for its slight strawberry flavor. Fruits are not as sweet as a typical raspberry, but for those who like that wild sour flavor of wild berries, or just want a unique edible oddity, this is an excellent option.

Latin Name: Rubus illecebrosus
Site and Soil: Full to 1/2 day sun and well-drained soil. Plants are very drought resistant once they are established.
Pollination Requirements: Self-fertile.
Hardiness: Hardy to -20° F.
Bearing Age: 2-3 years after planting.
Size at Maturity: 4-5 feet tall by about as wide
Bloom Time: May
Ripening Time: July-August
Yield: 10-15 lbs.
Pests & Diseases: We have not seen this plant be bothered by pests or diseases.
