Calliope™ Asian Persimmon
This unique and very attractive Korean variety features flavorful, bright orange fruit on a naturally small tree. Great for the home garden, Calliope™ is self-fertile and easy to grow. It’s Korean name means “husband and wife”, which describes the unusual side-by-side fruit, borne in pairs. Calliope fruits are ready to be eaten when they are soft and tender.
Hardy to 0º F., Asian Persimmons are easy to grow in the Northwest and other regions of the U.S. with mild winters. Naturally compact trees Persimmons rarely exceed 12ft. in height.
Asian Persimmon is not bothered by pests or disease so you don’t need to worry about spraying this tree. Cardinal likes half day to full sun and well-drained soil. Our varieties are self-fertile and hardy to USDA Zone 7. They begin bearing 2-3 years after planting and the fruit ripens in October.
