Winter is coming! For those of us who have already felt the first frost of the season, it can be disheartening. While many look to escape the cold weather and gray skies in pursuit of sunnier climates, we would like to offer a far cheaper and much more rewarding alternative: a tropical paradise in your living room! We offer a wide variety of fruiting trees and vines that will transport you from a snowscape to a white sandy beach. Our selection of passion fruit, citrus, pineapple, and banana are too tender to withstand winter frost, but bring them inside and revel in the fragrance, aesthetic, and taste of the tropics with your indoor garden.
These evergreen beauties are sure to brighten even the most dreary of winter days and will instill jealousy among all other houseplants. The aroma of citrus blossoms, the striking flowers of a passion fruit vine, and the elegant banana leaves in your living room window will bring warmth and comfort into your home this winter. By next year you will be saying goodbye to hot cocoa and hello to a freshly picked winter smoothie!
Take a look below at our tropical fruiting plants!
Passion Fruit
These remarkably sweet fruits are native to South America and we have fallen in love with everything about them. From their alien-like flowers to the dark purple and scarlet red fruits, these vines will quickly fill in an empty window. They will reliably flower and fruit if given the right conditions, so make sure their soil is rich in organic matter and they receive plenty of sunlight when outside. Give them some support and let them climb!
Citrus
By far the most fragrant indoor plant you will have, a flowering citrus tree will fill your home with an unforgettable scent. Our selection of citrus varieties continues to grow and we are excited to share some of the newest and most unique varieties available. Only reaching a max height of about 4 feet, a citrus plant provides much needed texture and aroma to your indoor living space. While they require more attention than our other indoor friends, check out our citrus growing guide HERE to make sure you’re giving them the love they deserve.

Pineapple
One of our favorite additions as of late, our pineapple varieties make a perfect fruiting indoor plant. They will stay small, only about 3 feet in height, and make a lovely, low maintenance addition to your winter window decorations. Be sure to give them well draining soil and by the second year you should start to see fruit popping up! A must have for the tropical indoor garden. It’s time to ditch those hot toddys for a fresh pina colada!
Banana
What else is there to say! The beautiful leathery leaves provide a wonderful texture inside the home and will make you dream of a Caribbean getaway. Our varieties cannot withstand hard frosts so it is best to bring them inside in cold climates. Provide them with rich soil, plenty of sunlight, and keep in mind that they will reach about 10 feet tall at full size. But given the right conditions you will start to see fruit after the second or third year, and what can be better than fresh bananas in the middle of winter!?
