A stunning little gem of a species, Agave pintilla looks like an intricately painted sculpture with its striking white markings on the leaves. Similar in appearance to the King Ferdinand agave, but is a bit smaller and with slightly different leaf markings.
A lightly variegated form of one of our favorite agave species. Kichiokan has a blue green center with a creamy white on the margins. Not a very cold hardy agave, but can be grown in a pot and moved indoors during winter.
An interesting and rarely seen agave relative that looks a bit like an agave trying to be a yucca with broad blue leaves (that aren’t sharp and stabby) and eventually forming a trunk up to 7′ tall. Grows well in places with cool summers as it’s from high elevations in Guatemala and southern Mexico, but requires a nearly frost free winter in order to survive, so better suited to growing in pots in colder climates.
An especially fine textured selection of Agave schidigera, Black Widow is named for its numerous long white filaments that come off the leaves and resemble the texture of a spider’s web. A bit smaller growing than some agave species, these make an excellent potted specimen for growers in colder climates, but is hardy to about 10º F as long as they are kept fairly dry in the cold winter months.
A real neato-bandito species of Eryngium, doing its best to come to the Halloween party dressed as an agave, and doing a fairly good job of it too.
One of the most cold hardy agaves, Havard Agave can survive temperatures well below zero, reportedly all the way to -20, though it would still very much prefers to be dry when it gets cold. Rosettes are medium to large sized, quite upright and strikingly blue. It really has quite the presence in the garden! Produces pups, sometimes a good distance away and these can be allowed to grow where they appear or dug up and moved wherever you want a new agave. Flower stalks whenever it reaches the end of its life are incredible!

An agave we’ve lusted after for years and finally were able to track down! The deeply scalloped leaf edges give this agave the most exquisite texture. Combine that with the deep blue foliage and you have yourself an agave really worth swooning over.
A really fantastic selection of a not-often-seen Mexican agave, Globe is the most perfectly rounded, some might even say globe-shaped, agave that we’ve ever seen! Compact growing with the most beautiful thorn imprints on each leaf, Globe is one of those plants you can stare at for hours and feel as though you’ve been whisked away to the beautiful desert mountains of Mexico. A great selection for growing in pots, though we prefer to plant them in the ground so they can reach their largest proportions.
A slightly smaller growing selection of the Whale’s Tongue Agave, as compared to the infamous ‘Frosty Blue’. Vanzie is unique for its smaller teeth, deeply scalloped and wavy leaf edge and its deep ventral folds that give it such a unique texture. Still grows to monstrous proportions, often up to 6 feet wide and 4 feet tall! But you can slow it down in our climate by holding off on the water once it reaches the size you want. Either way be sure to site it in a location where it can be the focal point and have plenty of room to stretch its beautiful blue, spiny legs!
