A new and promising variety from the Nikita Botanic Garden, Star of Crimea Olive Tree ™ has been under evaluation in our region for a few years now and has been doing great. Star of Crimea Olive Tree ™ is prized for its flavorful, early ripening fruit.
Latin Name: Olea europaea
Site and Soil: Olives like a warm, protected location with 1/2 day to full sun and well drained soil.
Pollination Requirements: We recommend planting Star of Crimea™ with another variety like Black Pearl ™as we are not sure about its pollination requirements. Olives are wind pollinated and should be planted no more than 20 ft. apart. You can assist pollination by moving pollen from flower to flower with a small brush.
Hardiness: Star of Crimea™ should be hardy to 10F. or below.
