Boskoop Ruby Broom
It turns out you can have your beautiful Cytisus and not have to worry about it eating the landscape too! Boskoop Ruby is a sterile broom that will not produce seeds and therefore won’t have the invasive potential that the genus has been abhorred for. And instead of the usual yellow flowers we see on Cytisus scoparius, Boskoop Ruby has bright ruby colored blooms that absolutely cover the entire shrub when they are in bloom. A real floral showstopper! Can be cut back if it gets leggy or “leany”and this will also help release nitrogen from its root nodules into the soil.
