A fun variegated take on the California Lilac, Lemon Ice features icy blue flowers with a vibrant backdrop of variegated foliage of dark green surrounded by a lemony yellow. Drought tolerant and fairly small to 4′ tall by about as wide.
The lowest growing groundcover Ceanothus that we grow, Heart’s Desire creeps along the ground growing only a few inches to a foot high but creating a large mat 3-5 wide of nice evergreen foliage.
A fantastic large scale ground cover ceanothus, Joan Mirov grows to about 4 feet tall by 10 feet wide! A great bank cover or filler plant for keeping out weeds and preventing erosion.
A larger growing Ceanothus gloriosus cultivar than the typically seen Pt. Reyes. Anchor Bay grows 2-3 feet tall and spreads up to 6 feet wide. A great choice for large scale ground covers. Flowers are also more prolific than on Pt. Reyes and are a very cheery light blue in mid spring. A great nitrogen fixing and drought tolerant ground covering shrub!
A fantastic selection from the UK that forms a large mounding shrub and has the most spectacular deep blue flowers for nearly two months! Grows very quickly when young in well drained soil with no summer water once established.
What do you get when you cross two of our favorite ceanothus varieties? The gorgeous tree forming Ceanothus thrysiflorus ‘Ray Hartman’ and the crowd favorite, deep blue flowered Dark Star made a love child and that shrub is buck wild!
Blue Jeans Ceanothus is one of the easiest of any cultivar to grow. An excellent choice for the first time Ceanothus grower. We love this one for its very unique holly-like compact foliage and intensely lavender colored flowers that cover the entire shrub when its in flower.
Pt. Reyes Ceanothus is easily the most widely planted Ceanothus ground cover, and for good reason! This beautiful evergreen is as tough as they come, excels in hot dry situations, on slopes, and delights the bees when the plant gets absolutely covered in violet blue flowers each March.

Vandenberg is very similar to Dark Star Ceanothus with its dark green crinkled leaves and beautiful fragrant blue flowers in late spring, but is much more compact than Dark Star, growing 3-5 feet tall by 4-6 feet wide.
