Single Leaf Pinyon Pine

Single Leaf Pinyon Pine is the world’s only one needled pine, as in the needles come in 1 per cluster, as opposed to multiples. In many ways it is similar to the Pinyon Pine (Pinus edulis) but differs in growing to a slightly smaller size at maturity, its range extends further north, and its shell is softer and easier to crack than Pinus edulis. It is equally as prized as a food source for its tasty pine nut and is extremely cold hardy and drought tolerant.
