Silver Caress Mahonia Seedlings
So there’s this really great seed strain of Mahonia eurybracteata that Cistus Nursery has been working on for years to select for the most silvery of the bunch and they’ve had excellent results. Many other nurseries in the area have since adopted growing them and we had some planted in a garden that was surrounded by Soft Caress Mahonia so we collected seeds off of the Cistus Silvers plant and grew out these seedlings. It’s hard to say at a young age what their final form will be, but many are looking quite silver and there seems to be a great diversity of leaf forms, so hopefully some exciting new plants come out of these.

Site and Soil: 1/2 day to full sun (partial shade in hot climates) and well drained soil. It is quite drought tolerant.
Pollination Requirements: Self-fertile.
