Pacific Dogwood
A native dogwood that grows from BC down through the Sierra Nevada, this lovely Cornus species can be seen throughout the region, though is rarely planted in home gardens compared to the pink flowering dogwood. Pacific Dogwood grows easily in the understory or forest’s edge but also appears to be equally at home in full sun as long as you can give it some deep waterings the first couple of years to establish it. Flowers very early and is an easy and reliable tree here.
