Hawaiian Yellow Ginger
Add some home grown ginger to your next home made sushi rolls with our Hawaiian Yellow Ginger! Gingers are beautiful ornamentals to grow with their grass-like foliage and gorgeous flowers in summer, and they’re also quite easy to grow too. For growers in northern climates wanting to grow this unique edible ginger, you can easily grow them in pots and bring them indoors in the fall. Hilling up the the plants like you would potatoes often causes the ginger plant to make larger rhizomes. They can be harvested in late summer when they are still tender and don’t have the fibrous skin or bring them inside and wait until December when the above ground part of the plant dies back and you can then harvest the thick ginger that you’re used to seeing in the grocery store. A lovely, beautiful and delicious plant to try at home!
