Saskatoon Berry
A beloved plant native to much of Western North American, Saskatoon, also known as Serviceberry or Juneberry, is an easy to grow large shrub or small tree that produces an abundance of early season berries. They are the size of a blueberry and have a pleasant sweet flavor and make an excellent jam. Saskatoon berries are also beloved by birds who flock to them in mass when they’re ripe so you’ll never have to worry about berries at the top of the tree going uneaten.
And the National Champion Saskatoon tree is just down the street from us in Clackamas, OR, growing to a staggering height (for the species) of 44 feet!
