Zutano Seedling Avocado Tree
Zutano Seedling Avocado Tree is a cold hardy avocado, surviving temperatures into the teens! Skin is glossy green and flesh is mild with a lower oil content. Fruits are very large and mature mid fall into late winter and can hang on the tree for weeks. Zutano is a type B flowering avocado and is a great pollinizer for our Mexicola avocado as well as the popular Hass avocado where it is often planted as a pollinizer in commercial orchards.
Latin Name: Persea americana var. drymifolia
Site and Soil: Avocados like full to 1/2 day sun and well-drained soil. If growing in pots, use coarse, well-drained, potting soil and water sparingly.
Pollination Requirements: These seedlings should be partially self-fertile. Planting two trees will increase yields.
Hardiness: Zutano seedlings are hardy to about 15 F.
Bearing Age: 3-4 years after planting.
Size at Maturity: 10-12 ft. in height, smaller with pruning.
