Puget Summer Strawberry

Another joint release from the Washington State, Oregon State, and the University of Idaho breeding programs. Puget Summer Strawberry was coined the name ‘Schwartze’ after C.D. Schwartze’s contributions to the WSU small fruit breeding program, yet marketed as Puget Summer. These plants bear a high yield in late June of relatively small fruit, very dark red in color, with sweet full bodied strawberry flavor.

Latin Name: Fragaria x ananassa
Site and Soil: Strawberries like 1/2 day to full sun and well drained soil.

Pollination Requirements: Strawberries are self fertile.
Hardiness: Sweet Sunrise Strawberry is hardy to minus 10º F. or below.
Bearing Age: 1st year after planting.
Size at Maturity: 6-8″ in height.
