Principles of Permaculture: Intro to Plant Guilds

Hello plant family!  Join us Saturday August, 10th in learning about the permaculture practice of guild creation and applying them to your own gardens and planting spaces.

In Permaculture a guild is a grouping of plants, trees, animals, insects, and other components that work together to help ensure their health and productivity.  This system mimics the wonderful relationships found in nature, which will help your garden be more productive and beautiful.

In this Intro to Plant Guilds class, led by Shelby Lynn of VETC Permaculture Farm, we will discover the intricate natural relationships between plants, discuss best practices for application in both rural and urban areas, and help you create a plan for your personalized plant guild in your own backyard!

Instead of planting gardens or orchards or fields or forests, Permaculture teaches us how to build guilds, which allow the plants, animals, and insects to work better together as a living system.  Instead of teaching about specific species (plants, trees, animals, insects) or components ( a wall,  fence, building, etc.) It teaches about functions.  This system of permaculture benefits not only your own yards, but the environment as a whole!

This class focuses on making permaculture knowledge – accessible, easy, and fun!

A portion of the proceeds go to supporting the Veteran’s Ecological Trades Collective, a permaculture farm focused on building sustainable agricultural skills for veterans and allies.
