In this lecture and demonstration Workshop, April Jamison, of Garden Ecology, will be sharing the essentials in fruit tree pruning to help guide you in feeling more confident and skilled in your own home orchard. Learn how to prune your fruit trees properly to ensure health and abundant harvest for years to come. This workshop will cover:
– Tools & Care
– When & Why we prune
– Setting goals & staying on track
– Types of cuts and how to make them
– Tips on training, restoration, and more!
Pruning is such an essential fruit tree care skill, but with so much information out there it can be a challenging skill to learn on your own. This workshop is curated to simplify and clarify the wild world of pruning, with an optional hands-on training opportunity after the lecture to offer you the tactile experience with the tools and the trees.
April is a fruit tree and food forest professional with over 10 years of experience here in the Portland, Oregon teaching pruning and fruit tree care for Portland Fruit Tree Project, the Home Orchard Society, as well as Garden Ecology clients throughout the Pacific Northwest.
