Oregon Almanac - First Signs of Spring

Mar 26, 2013

The first signs of spring are stirring around the farm. We notice that the days are getting longer. We hear frogs singing in the evening. The buds of Flowering Quince and Cornelian Cherry are starting to swell.

Our friends Andrey and Aziz have been helping us prune in our mother block.

No fear - of heights - while pruning an old Cherry tree.

Mark, with his canine companions, helps pick up prunings.

The days are a little longer and a little warmer

Our cover crop is starting to grow - another sign of spring.

First bloom - Japanese Flowering Plum (Prunus mume).
