Eucalyptus

Eucalypts are attractive, fast-growing, evergreen, trees and shrubs native to Australia. We offer surprisingly hardy varieties which can be grown outdoors in the Pacific Northwest and other mild winter areas. They are pest, disease and drought resistant and are not fussy about soils, as long as drainage is good. With periodic root pruning they can even make nice container plants, and can be grown indoors where there is lots of light. The round leafed varieties like Silver Dollar and Cider Gum develop long lance-shaped leaves as they mature. If you want to maintain the juvenile, round foliage, prune them annually and grow them as large, attractive shrubs.
